Adelaide is a '20 minute city' - the average time it takes for most people to commute to or from the city centre. It's a small city but with big city facilities and style. There are various types of student accommodation available off-campus and located close to Trison Business College. Student Hostel Accommodation Students are provided with a single room with a bed, desk and cupboard/wardrobe. The kitchen, bathroom, laundry and lounge rooms are all shared with other students. Approximate cost is from $AU100.00 per week and 2 weeks rent is normally required in advance. In addition, a bond is usually paid before commencing a stay at a hostel. Full Board or Shared Accommodation Full board accommodation includes a single room with bed and the option to have meals provided. The price for the full board varies from $AU200.00 per week because of the different facilities provided by different hosts. Shared accommodation is similar, however, students usually have to cook their own meals and provide their own food. The price for shared accommodation does not include expenses for telephone calls and personal toiletries. Students are normally treated as part of the family, with use of living areas and facilities. However, students are also expected to fit in with the family's lifestyle, meals and agreed house rules. The price of the share accommodation is $100.00 - $150.00 per week. Rented House or Flat This
option gives students the chance to live with fellow students or on their
own. However, there are several issues to consider. In many cases, students
need to sign a 12 month lease and provide a bond and references. While
this type of accommodation allows students to be independent, they need
to buy their own food, prepare meals and complete other household tasks
such as cleaning. Costs to rent a house are about $270.00 per week for
a 3 bedroom home in the suburbs. A 2 bedroom flat is approximately $180.00
per week. These prices do vary, however, depending upon location. The above costs are generally for unfurnished accommodation and costs would be higher for furnished accommodation.
