The Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) provides medical and hospital insurance for overseas students and their dependants whilst in Australia. All applicants for a Student Visa must show evidence that they have the required health insurance cover before a visa can be issued to them. Student Visas are granted on the condition that acceptable health insurance cover is maintained while the student is studying in Australia. To be covered for health insurance, students need to pay the OSHC for themselves and any family members travelling with them. Costs vary from provider to provider and it is recommended that students check with each provider. However, as a guide 12 months health cover for a single person is approximately $310.00, and 12 months family cover is approximately $610.00.
