Adelaide
is a friendly, multicultural city that makes international students
feel welcome and safe. Adelaide has a population of 1.2 million
people and is the State's
capital. The
city centre is surrounded on all sides by 7 square kilometres of
parklands. The majority of Adelaide's residents live in the suburbs
that circle the city centre and stretch about 30 kilometres to the
north and to the south. |

Adelaide is big enough to offer plenty of things to do but small enough
to avoid big-city hassles like traffic jams and pollution.

Adelaide's
weather changes through 4 seasons each year but the weather is generally
mild and sunny. Adelaide does not suffer any major storms, typhoons, cyclones
or hurricanes. The weather consists of:
- Spring
days (September to November) are on average a mild 22 degrees Celsius
(71 degrees Fahrenheit) with plenty of sunshine.
- Summer
(December to February) can get quite hot (up to 40C or 104F) but averages
around 28C (82F). Adelaide's warm weather is dry not humid.
- Autumn
(March to May) is generally mild and sunny and much like spring although
we start to get some rain.
- Winter
(June to August) is cool (around 15C or 60F) and wet but not cold enough
for snow.
Adelaide
has a beautiful environment of gentle hills, wide parklands and miles
of clean, sandy beaches. Because the city is relatively small, Adelaide
enjoys clean air, safe streets and less traffic problems than many other
Australian capital cities.
