Certificate III in Micro Business Operations

This qualification reflects the role of skills operators who apply a broad range of competencies in varied micro business contexts, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a small team.

Job titles relevant to this qualification include independent contractor, micro business operator.

Entry Requirements: There are no specific entry requirements, however, some vocational experience is preferred.

Length: Self-paced (average 6 months full-time).

Cost: $1800.00 (or $1620.00 concession).

Course Structure:

A total of 10 units must be completed to achieve the qualification.

Core units (5):

  • Investigate micro business opportunities
  • Develop a micro business proposal
  • Organise finances for the micro business
  • Determine resource requirements for the micro business
  • Comply with regulatory, taxation and insurance requirements for the micro business

Elective units (choose 5 of the following):

  • Deliver and monitor a service to customers
  • Review and maintain a website
  • Maintain financial records
  • Process accounts payable and receivable
  • Recruit, select and induct staff
  • Promote innovation in a team environment
  • Establish networks
  • Organise personal work priorities and development
