This qualification is designed to reflect the role of entry level employees who perform routine duties such as accounts payable/accounts receivable, payroll, cashier, preparation of trial balance, bookkeeping, EFT/e-business, purchases and sales, manual and computerised systems, and/or preparation of financial reports.

Entry Requirements: There are no specific entry requirements.

Length: Self-paced (average 6 months full-time).

Cost: $1800.00 (or $1620.00 concession).

Delivery Modes: Available by attendance and/or distance education.

Course Structure:

A total of 13 units must be completed to achieve the qualification.

Core units (9):

  • Work in the financial services industry
  • Communicate in the workplace
  • Use technology in the workplace
  • Apply health and safety practices in the workplace
  • Prepare and bank receipts
  • Process journal entries
  • Maintain daily financial/business records
  • Maintain financial records
  • Prepare financial reports

Elective units (choose 4 of the following):

  • Administer accounts payable
  • Administer financial accounts
  • Prepare, match and process receipts
  • Process payment documentation
  • Reconcile and monitor accounts receivable
  • Set up and operate a computerised accounting system
  • Process payroll
  • Create and use simple spreadsheets
