This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of administrative competencies in a legal office work environment, using some discretion and judgement. They may provide technical advice and support to at team.

Job titles relevant to this qualification include legal receptionist, executive assistant, office administrator /clerk, court-room attendant.

Entry Requirements: There are no specific entry requirements.

Length: Self-paced (average 6 months full-time).

Course Structure:

A total of 13 units must be completed to achieve the qualification.

Core units (2):

  • Participate in OHS processes
  • Develop keyboarding speed and accuracy

Legal administration units (choose 5 of the following):

  • Apply knowledge of legal system to complete tasks
  • Carry out search of public record
  • Apply the principles of confidentiality and security within the legal environment
  • Use legal terminology to carry out tasks
  • Maintain records for time and disbursements in a legal practice
  • Assist in prioritising and planning activities in a legal practice
  • Handle receipt and despatch of information

  • Process payroll
  • Process accounts payable and receivable
  • Maintain a general ledger

  • Produce spreadsheets
  • Design and produce business documents
