Certificate IV in Bookkeeping
(Course Code: FNS40211)

 

This qualification is designed to reflect the role of contract bookkeepers and employees performing in the role of bookkeeper for organisations and who perform duties such as establishing and maintaining accounting systems, assisting with Business Activity Statements and other office taxes, payroll, developing management systems for organisations.

Entry Requirements:There are no specific entry requirements, however, completion of the Certificate III in Financial Services, or some vocational experience in the financial services industry is preferred.

Length: Self-paced (average 10 months full-time).

Cost: $3000.00 (or $2700.00 concession).

Course Structure:

A total of 13 units must be completed to achieve the qualification.

Core units (9):

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures relevant to bookkeeping activities
  • Establish and maintain a cash accounting system
  • Establish and maintain an accural accounting system
  • Carry out business activity and instalment activity statement tasks
  • Establish and maintain a payroll system
  • Apply principles of professional practice to work in the financial services industry
  • Prepare financial reports
  • Design and produce business documents
  • Participate in OHS processes

Elective units (choose 4 of the following):

  • Perfom financial calculations
  • Prepare financial statements for non-reporting entities
  • Maintain inventory records
  • Set up and operate a computerised accounting system
  • Deliver and monitor a service to customers
  • Develop and use complex spreadsheets
  • Monitor and manage small business operations
  • Manage personal work priorities and professional development
  • Write simple documents
