Productivity Places Program -FAQ

Am I eligible?

If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident who is aged 15 years or over, and you are an eligible jobseeker then you are eligible for this Program. Eligible job seekers are:

  • Registered with an Employment Services Provider (ie an organisation delivering employment services under the Job Network, Disability Employment Network, Job Placement Employment and Training, Personal Support Program and/or Vocational Rehabilitation Services), or
  • Income support recipients who are not currently required to meet an activity test or participation requirements, or
  • People who are not currently working but seeking or intending to seek paid employment or self employment after completing the qualification.

In addition, participants must not be self employed or a full-time student.

When can I start?

Once we receive your completed application form you can commence within 1-6 weeks. We will contact you to arrange a commencement date.

When should I enrol?

As the number of places for this Program are limited by the Australian Government, we recommend that you enrol as soon as possible.

What if I am not ready to start a course yet?

You can either:

  • Complete the application form now and start you course by distance education. We send you course materials for your first unit and you work from home whenever you have time. You can take as long as you need. Whenever you are ready, contact us to commence classes or you can keep studying by distance education if you prefer.

    or,
  • Enrol later and wait to see if there are still places available in the Program (if there aren't any places available then you can apply to go on a waiting list for the next time places become available).

How long does the course take?

Qualifications delivered by Trison Business College are self-paced so the time taken to complete them will vary from person to person. The duration depends upon your existing skills and whether you will study part-time or full-time. It also depends upon whether you study by distance education and/or attend classes. Each course description on our website will provide a guide about the average duration for a course.

Is this Programme just for unemployed people?

Yes, initially. However, the Australian Government will be providing more information about the arrangements for Productivity Places for existing workers and apprentices in the near future. The Productivity Places Program website will detail these arrangements when they become available.

What if I can't attend classes?

No problems - you don't have to attend classes in order to complete a course. All courses can be completed by distance education but you will need access to a computer with Internet access as some parts of the course are completed on-line. If you are completing the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment then you will also need access to video recording equipment and a training environment. Course materials are posted to you and completed assignments are emailed or posted back to us. Assistance is available by phone, fax or email. After hours assistance can also be arranged.

Can I change courses or providers?

Only if your course has not commenced. Once your course has commenced (ie you have attended your induction, a class and/or received course materials) then you are unable to make any changes, irrespective of whether you finish the course.

How do I cancel my enrolment?

If you want to cancel your enrolment you need to advise Trison Business College in writing before your course commences. Once the course has commenced you are unable to cancel your enrol-ment.

What happens if I have some relevant skills and experience?

Your existing skills and experience will be taken into account when you enrol in your chosen course. If you are able to demonstrate that you already have competency in part(s) of the course then you will not need to complete that section of the course. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) means that you will be able to achieve your qualification faster.
